Treblinka – By Hayden

The Death Camp at Treblinka, or what remains of it, is one of the most impacting sites in the Polish nation. In the effort to conceal the camp, The Germans had what is essentially a forest planted around the camp. In modern day, the trees and nature create a rather shocking spectacle which includes the beauty of nature combined with the blackness of the knowledge of the events which took place in this location 80 years ago. This stark contrast in environments gives off an energy which cannot be put into words.

The site at Treblinka is a living monument to the atrocities which were committed by the Hitlerite regime. The importance of the remembrance which Treblinka inspires is perhaps the most important lesson which can be taken from a site relating to the Holocaust directly or indirectly. Thus rendering this one of the most important sites in the remembrance and preservation of the History of the Holocaust and its greater story.
