I have taught about Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott for nearly 3 decades. I love telling the story that intertwines Dr. King and Rosa Parks. In fact, despite telling it for so long, I still get excited to tell after all these decades. I did not know how I would react when I visited the actual spot where Rosa Parks entered the bus and where she exited after being arrested. No matter how excited I was to teach it every year, it pales in comparison how excited I was when I stood in those actual spots. My mind turned back in time to imagine what it was like on that December day in 1955 and how that single act jumpstarted the civil rights movement. I WAS STANDING IN THE ACTUAL SPOT WHERE ROSA PARKS MADE HISTORY. This trip has added so many small details that will bring even more excitement to telling the story to my students next year and Classrooms Without Borders made it all happen. #ThxCWB #ThxRosaParks
