A group of Youngstown-area educators recently returned from a subsidized eight-day Holocaust education seminar in Poland, organized and subsidized by Classrooms Without Borders (CWB). The experience included powerful visits to Auschwitz, Treblinka, Majdanek, and the Warsaw Ghetto, offering a deeper understanding of Jewish life, Holocaust history, and the human stories behind it all.
Educators from schools including West Middlesex, Newton Falls, Campbell Memorial, and Akiva Academy used the journey to strengthen their ability to teach about genocide, empathy, and social justice.
“This experience changed how I will teach the Holocaust,” said Christen Jones of West Middlesex Jr./Sr. High School. “I now have personal stories and visuals to help my students connect not just with history, but humanity.”
“I can’t tell you how grateful I am, and all of us are, for this trip,” educator Brian Bugos reflected.
